1. Before You Support Your Child, Support Yourself
It’s not selfish, it’s essential. Many parents of neurodivergent children experience burnout, guilt, and chronic exhaustion. One of the best things you can do for your child’s development is prioritise your own wellbeing — even if it’s just five minutes a day of mindful breathing or journaling before bedtime.
2. Music as a Regulation Tool for the Whole Family
Music helps regulate the nervous system. Whether it’s playing calming tracks during the evening routine, having an after-school “music moment,” or singing your child’s favorite tune together — these practices bring rhythm, bonding, and emotional regulation for both of you.
3. Small Wins Lead to Big Breakthroughs
Progress happens in tiny steps. Maybe today your child strums one string, tomorrow they clap in time, and next week they create their own rhythm. Celebrate these moments. They are signs of neural pathways forming, motor skills developing, and confidence growing.
4. From 'Do It For Them' to 'Do It With Them'
It’s easy to jump in and help when something is hard — like ordering food, packing a bag, or setting up a music lesson. But when we slow down, prompt gently, and let kids take the lead, they surprise us. One of our students learned to order her own hot chocolate — a skill sparked during a pretend café rhythm activity!
5. Let Music Build Confidence, Not Perfection
At Autism Music Australia, we don’t aim for perfect performances — we aim for growth. Whether your child plays the same song 100 times or skips ahead out of curiosity, we celebrate the curiosity and courage behind each note. Our goal is self-belief, not perfection.

"These music lessons have become a calming anchor in our week. My son watches the videos over and over, and every time I see a little more confidence emerge."– Jack R., Parent from NSW

A Unique Colour Coded System
Our revolutionary colour-coded system adds a whole new dimension to music learning and gives kids a powerful advantage as they begin their music learning journey.
Think of our colour-coded system as training wheels on a bike. Without them, many people would never learn to ride.
This colour-coded system provides a whole new visual trigger designed to speed up the development of the fine motor skills necessary to play music easily and correctly on their chosen instrument.
Every Achievement is Celebrated
We believe every achievement is a HUGE SUCCESS to be CELEBRATED!
Although learning music is what it is all about, for us, it comes second to making your child feel like they are able to achieve anything in this life.
It could be the simpler things like hitting their hand on a drum for two beats in a row or being able to confidently find the middle C on a piano.
Or more tricky things, such as playing Fur Elise by Beethoven, the guitar solo of Sweet Child o Mine, or the latest Tailor Swift or Ed Sheeran song, it is all celebrated equally by our teachers.
We consistently focus on building exceptional confidence and having stupid amounts of fun throughout our time together.
Breaking Definitions Whilst Providing Positive Affirmations
Once you join any of our programs, you will no longer hear definitions such as Autistic, ADHD, ADD, Dyslexic, etc.
You will hear phrases such as uniquely gifted, incredibly talented, you are such a quick learner, you did that so quickly, I love how you interpreted that and did it in your way, etc.
All delivered with excitement, positivity, presence and confidence, creating a special, safe, trustable space that is fun and exciting.
Here, anything is possible.
